When a doodlebug fell near Drayson House, the British Legion Institute (area now the car park) and the nearby white houses, were damaged.

These were then demolished and the land, where the houses once stood, was purchased on 4th December 1947. The Village Hall Charity was registered with the Charity Commission.

The Reverend Percy Wilson, Mr John Bourne and Mr John Spink were trustees. A committee was formed by representatives from the various organisations in the Village.

The Memorial Hall was built by WH Bourne & Sons, builders of Woodchurch, in memory of those who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2

The Annexe was erected as a ‘temporary’ meeting place but is still in use today.

The Memorial Hall was officially opened by Sir Edward Parry on 18th October 1958
